Energy Efficiency Solutions for Education

Considering school districts and educational campuses retain buildings for decades and more, appropriate product selection is critical. Product selection can have a significant impact on the immediate and long term performance and cost efficiency of a building, and is especially critical when considering energy performance over the life of the building. It is critical to consider the bigger picture and impacts over the building's lifetime when making design decisions. Starting with defining key terminology, an analytical approach for evaluating the various options will be reviewed, and will involve improving the performance of an educational building. Topics covered will include continuous air barriers in the walls & roof, insulation, reflective roofing & pavements, and rooftop solar.
