EDmarket scholarship and award programs are a major part of promoting the next generation of leaders and recognizing outstanding service in the industry.
Since 1987, the Education Market Association (EDmarket) has provided an annual scholarship for their members and families. The John L. Spalding (JLS) Memorial Scholarship, awards $5,000 to an outstanding college student. The JLS memorial scholarship applications are judged by the Chairman's Advisory Committee.
The EDmarket Chairman's Advisory Committee is pleased to announce that Jordyn Robertson has been selected as this year's winner of the JLS $5,000 scholarship. Jordyn is the daughter of Kimberly Robertson, Executive Director of Choice Schools and Programs at Guilford County Schools, and a member of the EDmarket Education Innovation Council and Board of Directors.
Jordyn has worked hard to prepare for college by balancing challenging academics, multiple sports, leadership roles, and a part-time job all while maintaining a 4.5 weighted GPA in high school. She will be entering the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the fall and plans to major in Business and Marketing and later attend law school to study Sports and Entertainment Law.
Curriculum Facilitator Shanda Hamm said of Jordyn that she "exemplified outstanding character and integrity in the classroom and beyond. She was kind, helpful, and respectful. She was well loved by both staff and peers. Jordyn was truly a model student." Congratulations Jordyn!

The David McCurrach Distinguished Service Award was first presented in 1989 in honor of a man who served as Executive Director of the Association from 1952-82.
