Meet Your Fellow Members
As you can see, some great talent is stepping up to lead the association in this ever-changing market in the years ahead. Each of them made an important commitment to serve this industry and you, our members. We look forward to working with them as they share their leadership talent at EDmarket and consider future leadership opportunities.
If you are interested in participating on EDmarket Board of Directors, contact Jim McGarry, President & CEO, EDmarket. Thank you.
Thank you to the EDmarket Nominating Committee Members for work in selecting the slate of 2022 Board of Directors and leadership candidates!
I am currently serving on the EDmarket Executive Committee and believe that commitments like these should not be taken lightly. EDmarket needs people who have the desire and time. to make a difference. I am passionate about driving more value for members and for involving more end users to meet the mission of improving student outcomes.
Experience, vision and energy are the primary reasons I ask to be considered for an officer position within EDmarket. Over those years, I have accumulated valuable experience operating within the educational market, all of which imbue me with a practical understanding of our industry's challenges and opportunities. Since 2004, our business has quintupled in revenue and our product portfolio is arguably the broadest and relevant among loose furniture providers. Activating and sustaining that vision required a plan and profuse amounts of physical, mental and emotional energy.
I’m extremely passionate about EDmarket and the impact it can make within the education space as a connecting body between all stakeholders. I am passionate about contributing my time to anything that is for the betterment if future education. I believe in the EDmarket’s value and approach to content sharing and industry connections. I believe that my passion and contribution to the industry can add value to the association and I’m willing to roll my sleeves up and do all I can to drive this industry forward. I appreciate this opportunity provides for collaboration across all stakeholders.
I have learned that a well-functioning board of directors is essential to the health and sustainability of any organization. With my experience on the Board of Directors for BSA, I found being a vital part of this team that I provided insights and guidance to the organization to help it reach its objectives and goals. I plan on bringing my experience and knowledge to the Education Market Association Board of Directors and be a valued asset to the organization.
EDmarket can be an integral part in helping all of the members of the industry scale to maintain pace in a sometimes-archaic marketplace that struggles to service its customers' needs. Specifically for the association, the ability to act as a change agent and industry servicing entity, while maintaining a neutral position amongst competitors, presents a major challenge and is assuredly a roadblock. However, I am confident that there is a viable pathway towards that goal, and I look forward to the opportunity to be a part of that solution.
My years of experience in the industry and at EDmarket puts me in a position to understand not only the need to justify the expenses related to the membership and tradeshow event. Even more important than the ROI on the expense, it is a critical time to gain mindshare and support of all stakeholders in the FFE sales process (A&D, Dealers, End Users, Installers and etc). My access and understanding of the needs of each of these stakeholders would translate into helping the association build a strong value proposition to growing new members while maintaining the traditional member base.
I have 8 year of K-12 administrative experience, and 5 years of education supplier experience - now at a senior executive level for a leading education supplier (KI). My track record speaks for itself in regard to being able to think big, move organizations/processes forward, and be part of a new wave of industry leaders.
My personal reason for hoping to serve on the Ed Market board is to continue bringing an educator's perspective and infusing innovation and social entrepreneurship in a profound and meaningful way at a broader scale. As a 25-year educator and school leader whose last four and half years have been with an architectural firm, I have become a bridge between innovative pedagogical practices and facility design for architects, interior designers, school districts, leaders, and teachers.
