We are living in an unprecedented time. Schools are closed around the world causing educators and students to adjust to new realities of teaching and learning online. Our guest speakers from Steelcase will speak to what they have been learning about this shift to remote + online learning, what this might mean for the near and further futures of education, and share some ideas schools might consider as they redesign their learning spaces in a post-COVID environment.

Aileen Strickland McGee is a senior design researcher, passionate about the ways in which the built environment shapes our experiences. As a member of the WorkSpace Futures team at Steelcase, Aileen is a part of a team that dives into deeply understanding the ways that people live, work, and learn. By asking big questions and exploring complex answers, the team helps Steelcase envision possibilities and frame real-world choices for the present and future of living, working, and learning. For the last 10 years, Aileen has been focused on exploring these complex answers within the field of education and educational environments.

Kathy Waterman is an interior designer on the Steelcase Education Design team specializing in helping schools and universities create all types of meaningful learning environments. She strives to understand the needs and activities of students and instructors and translates them into insight-led spaces that enhance the teaching and learning experience. The Steelcase Education team takes great pride in working dynamically together to intentionally design solutions where people love to learn.
